Civil Rights Academy begins 5-week course
The Sioux City Human Rights Commission will host a five week Civil Rights Academy for five consecutive Wednesdays beginning on Oct. 8. Classes will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. in the Lower Level Conference Room in City Hall, 405 6th St.
Academy participants must be at least high school age and must commit to attending all five events.
The purpose of the Academy is to educate the community about the Human Rights Commission, about federal, state and local civil rights laws and about the classes of people protected under various civil rights laws.
