0Pet licensing provides benefits to owners, friends
Do you have a pet you love? So do I, and many others in Sioux City.
What some people don’t realize is that registering your pet is the law. I know, it seem’s like a hassle, right? But there are many benefits to registering your pets.
First off, the prices: The prices are $10/year for a neutered pet and $30 a year for an intact. Those prices are higher than other cities I have lived in, but let me tell you – It is worth it. For instance, if your pet goes missing, having them licensed increases your chance of finding them. I learned this the hard way.
When one of my Beagles escapes, he was just a pup. I hadn’t registered him yet because I could do it at my vet and we hadn’t been to our appointment yet. Luckily, I found him, but the next time he found a way to climb the fence – yes climb – he was found, and I was contacted because of the information on his license tag.
Licensing your furry friends also is good for everyone that comes into contact with your pet. When a person sees the tag, it tells them that your animal has had it’s vaccinations. This is a great thing to know when approaching a new animal.
So, where can you get your pet licensed? That’s easy.
In Sioux City, purchase licenses at the Customer Service Center in City Hall, 405 6th St.; Sioux City Animal Adoption and Rescue, and at all participating veterinarians. So first ask your vet if he or she offers this service, which makes it easier.
