Food Map: Sioux City has wealth of local eateries

CommunityWalk Map – Sioux City Local Eateries

When it comes to local restaurants, Sioux City really has it good. From American to Asian, Mexican to Greek, the choices are legion. In fact, we love local eateries so much, we thought we’d put them together into one food map for easy discovery. Hopefully that means you’ll spend more time eating and less time searching for your next great lunch or dinner option.

So, where to begin? That depends on what kind of food you prefer. If you’re a foodie and will try anything, then Sioux City offers a rich tray of selections. If you’re a picky eater, then you may want to start with one of our great American restaurants or delis.

Our favorites? That’s not easy.

The most common question I get is for great Mexican. I usually recommend La Juanita’s, which I’ve heard compared to the best Mexi in San Diego. But don’t stop there. Sioux City has dozens of South of the Border eateries that feature a variety of styles on this popular cuisine. And this isn’t Taco Bell – it’s authentic, and the options are incredible.

Da Kao is a long-standing Vietnamese restaurant with great grub. And if you want Thai, just head down the street to Diamond Thai and ask Peter Utthachoo for something spicy and hot.
Want Great Italian? Trattoria Fresca and Lucianos downtown.

Want Sushi? Take your pick.

All this bodes well for people who love to explore the world through food. But what if you’re a traditionalist or want something more American?
There are plenty of options.

Deli subs and sandwiches at Little Chicago are awesome. Billy Boy burgers in Riverside are greasy and delicious. But make sure to get the onion chips with dip to round out the meal.

Want great Pizza – where do we start. Sioux City is an anomaly when it comes to making an incredible local slice. Many cities don’t have 2 good options, let along 4 or 5, for great za.

So next time someone asks for a great local eatery, you won’t have to struggle for an answer.

Let us know where your favorite local eateries are, and be sure to add a comment if you think we’ve missed a great place.
