0Pet of the Week – Blossom
Blossom is ready to be adopted! While this is a statement most Noah’s Hope dogs can make, it has taken awhile for Blossom to be ready. She came to NHAR at 10 weeks of age from an area shelter where she was born with a deformity. Her front legs were longer than her back legs, making it necessary for her to walk with front legs extremely bowed. She needed surgery to correct the birth defect.
Our vets operated and removed bone from her front legs to make them the right length, also adjusting the angle of her elbows. Blossom had two bright blue casts on her legs for a long time, but now it’s hard to tell there was ever anything wrong with this energetic little girl. She is go-go-go from the moment she wakes up, romping and playing with kids and other dogs. Her foster mom says she is incredibly smart and affectionate, although she is too busy to be considered a snuggler. She entertains herself constantly, helping herself to toys when there’s no one to play with and amusing herself for hours. “She’s a hoot,” says her foster mom. “Just the funniest, most adorable dog.”
Blossom is now almost five months old and weighs 20 pounds. She will not get considerably larger when she is full grown. She is 90% housetrained. Last week our vets gave Blossom a clean bill of health. She should not require any further surgery. It is possible that she will develop some arthritis later in life, which is something her future family should be aware of and prepared to give her pain medication if it is required.
Blossom is up-to-date on vaccinations and micro-chipped. She is too young to be spayed. As part of our adoption agreement, she must be spayed by the age of six months (NHAR will reimburse a portion of this cost). Her adoption fee is $135. If you are interested in adopting this special girl, you can fill out an adoption application online at our website, or call Deanna at 712-253-8394.

Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. We rescue the underdogs: the old, the sick and injured, the used-up by breeders, the forsaken and misunderstood. We nurse them, bring them back from the brink, and give them another chance. We believe they make the very best pets because somehow, they understand and are grateful.
