Pet of the Week – Bruno
Say hello to Bruno, an 8-year-old male Lab/Pit mix. We call dogs like him three-strikers because they have three strikes against them from birth. Bruno is big. He’s black. And he has Pitbull in him. But Bruno is not out. Not by any means.
He came to Noah’s Hope from South Sioux Animal Control as a neglect case. When AC took him in he weighed 51 pounds and had scabs all over his body. In his foster home, he jumped on the tables and was very nervous to be inside a home.
Now he has blossomed in a home environment, and it has been a joy to introduce Bruno to the life a dog should have. He loves blankets and pillows, has discovered what toys are, and has learned the joy of playing. He loves to romp with the other dogs in his foster home and still has a lot of puppy left in him. He is also good with cats.
Bruno is house trained and behaves like a gentleman indoors. Bruno likes to be where his people are, touching them if possible. His ears and tail are almost all healed but he still doesn’t like them to be touched. He pulls away as if it still hurts them. He now weighs 65 pounds and still has some weight to gain.
Bruno’s one remaining bad habit is jumping up on people, and so he can knock little ones down. This is merely a training issue but he might do best in a home without small children. Bruno is incredibly intelligent and has been very easy to train. He dislikes being kenneled, but doesn’t mind being confined to one room.
Bruno is neutered, vaccinated, and micro chipped. His adoption fee is $85 (a $50 sponsorship has been paid). Because of his breed, Bruno is not welcome to live inside of Sioux City limits. Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. We rescue the underdogs: the old, the sick and injured, the used-up by breeders, the forsaken and misunderstood.
