Sioux City Adventures: 4 Reasons Why I’m Now a Belle Touché Fangirl

About two years ago, I attended an event in Sioux City and won a drawing for a $100 gift card to Belle Touché Salon and Spa.
Good news, right?
It would have been, except for the tiny fact that, as you know if you’ve been following my adventures from the beginning, I am bad at trying new things.
I’d always heard good things about Belle Touché, but I felt intimidated by the idea of a salon. I had this mental image of sitting amongst women who were older and richer than me, feeling incredibly out of place with my outgrown highlights and ragged cuticles.
So, the gift card sat in a drawer for two years, until recently, when I was invited to take part in a Belle Touché model call at their Hamilton location. (For those of you who aren’t familiar, a model call is a way for new stylists to get practice, and customers to get a discount on their services.)
My first appointment was just a simple wash and style, but I was so impressed by the experience that I immediately booked a follow up appointment to get some much-needed color a week later. In that same time frame, I also took part in a complimentary make-up event at the salon.
At some point during these three visits, I became a Belle Touché fangirl. And I’m going to give you four good reasons why you should be one, too.
#1: The Customer Service
I was nervous about my first appointment, but as soon as I walked in the door, my fears were alleviated as the nice woman behind the counter welcomed me with a genuine smile. She politely directed me to the seating area with the paperwork that I needed to fill out, and offered me something to drink.
Never once, in any of my three visits, did I feel like I didn’t belong there. All of the stylists that I interacted with were super friendly. They explained what they were doing step-by-step, and never once tried to sell me on products that I didn’t ask about. The outstanding customer service that I received at Belle Touché was among the best that I’ve ever experienced.
#2: Mandy
I can’t talk about the awesome customer service without giving a shout-out to my girl, Mandy! She was the new stylist that styled my hair for my first appointment, and I had such a great experience with her that I insisted she be the one to do my follow-up color appointment. Not only is Mandy one of the sweetest girls I’ve ever met, but she is also really good at what she does.
Too often I’ve gone into hair places and walked out disappointed because they took too much hair off, or styled my hair in some ridiculous way that I didn’t like. But Mandy really listened to what I said, and gave me a hairstyle that I absolutely loved. From what I understand, she is working at the Lakeport salon these days, so call or go online and book an appointment with her, and tell her I said hi!
#3: The Aveda Products
About 4 months ago, I made the decision to start a vegan diet. And since then, I’ve been trying to implement that plant-based concept into other products that I use as well, especially beauty products. I was absolutely ecstatic to find out that the Aveda products that the stylists use at Belle Touché are 99% plant based, and are always tested on people!
There was a little part of me that cringed at paying $20 for a bottle of Color Conserve shampoo, but I will tell you, I can really notice a difference in the way my hair feels now that I’ve been using it for awhile. Don’t even get me started on the skin care products! I have always had incredibly red cheeks, and usually I have to cake on make-up to make that color go away. With just a couple spritzes of Aveda’s Botanical Kinetics Toning Mist the redness was like, completely gone! It was really amazing.
#4: The Pampering Experience
Throughout my experiences at Belle Touché, I felt incredibly spoiled and pampered. And, I admit it: I really enjoyed it! Going somewhere and getting your hair cut and colored is one thing, but you really haven’t lived until you’ve sat in a vibrating shampoo chair while someone gives you a scalp massage.
And the towel that she used to dry my hair? It was warm. It’s a small thing, but the fact that they have an actual appliance there that warms towels makes me incredibly happy. Oh, and FYI, they were installing new and improved shampoo chairs while I was there – can’t wait to try those out!
I’ve spent my entire gift card, but there is no question that I will be going back to Belle Touché very soon. Are their services a bit on the pricey side? Absolutely. But is it worth it? In my opinion, yes. Life is tough, people, you’ve gotta spoil yourselves every once in awhile, right?
I’m thinking my next appointment will be a manicure. I really do need to do something about these ragged cuticles.
