0The shredded beef makes Graham’s Loaded Nachos special
When you think of nachos, it’s easy to imagine loose ground beef atop a pile of nacho chips spotted with random cheese and lettuce. Add in sides of nacho cheese and salsa and you’ve got the description for most nacho recipes.
When you order the Loaded Nachos at Graham’s Grill, however, you’ll have to wipe that image from your mind. These babies are anything but typical.
It really boils down to the ingredients, and in particular, the shredded beef. Sure, you can order it with ground beef, but why? It’s so predictable, and while I’m sure they are good that way, the shredded beef packs way more flavor, in my opinion.
So, let’s tear it apart from the top down, leaving the best for last.
No random white onions here – leave it to the green onion tops to take the lead on this mound of fresh goodness.
Don’t forget Graham’s tasty guacamole, smooth with a kiss of lime. A healthy portion of sour cream wasn’t a side either – it’s right on top the way I like it. Too often restaurants get away with small plastic side dishes with these essential condiments, and that’s just not right.
The lettuce was a little pedestrian – just chopped iceberg – but it was crunchy and added freshness to every bite. Plus, it’s just one man in this food infantry dedicated to freeing me from the ordinary.
Tomatoes were nothing special, but when complemented by the salsa, which is plenty tomato-y, tom lovers will get their fix. I could let these go and just dump on the salsa, as tomatoes are not my favorite, but they do add a sweetness to the dish.
What else do I need to say – cheddar melted nicely over the chips, and jalapenos falling from all sides. What pleasure I have found on this messy mound of flavor.
Now, to what really matters – that shredded beef. It’s soft, and slightly spicy (not too hot, spice freaks), and there’s plenty of the good stuff for every chip. The best part is that it nearly melts in your mouth. And in contrast to the crunch of the fresh nacho chips, you’ll likely find a new happy hour starter. Grab a tall beer to go with it, and it’s practically a meal.
I actually get the half nachos because the full nachos is pretty large. Get it if you’re sharing the table with a family. But the half is nicely suited for two.
