0Noah’s Hope Featured Pet: Gunner – ADOPTED!
Quite often people come to Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue looking for a hypoallergenic dog and every once in a while one of these comes into the rescue. When we first heard about Gunner, he had been surrendered to a vet office to be euthanized. As soon as we met him we knew why he was surrendered and realized that even though he is a hypoallergenic, non-shedding shih tzu / poodle mix, he would need medical attention before he could be adopted.
He was extremely thin, very matted and could barely walk. The evidence pointed to possible neurological problems so the tests were done but they were inconclusive. There was no obvious reason for his sad condition.
As he spent time in his foster home his walking improved and he put on weight. He did so well that we decided maybe his muscles had been weak from being confined to a crate all the time.
So now, sweet Gunner is happy and healthy. He loves to go for walks and has the cutest bouncy trot when he does it! Car rides are great fun for him too.
He is 7 years old, ignores cats and likes other dogs but he will yell at the big dogs if they get too rowdy. Otherwise he is a quiet boy.
Gunner’s ideal home is with adults. He is not needy or demanding but he will happily sit in your lap or beside you if you let him. In his foster home he sleeps in a crate and seems to feel at home there.
Is this boy perfect? No, but he sure is cute!! Especially with his longer hair but because of his breed he will need a haircut now and then. More importantly, he needs a home. Gunner is available for adoption thru Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue. If you would like more information before filling out an application for Gunner please call 712-898-6979.
