0Expect Reggae, Afro-Caribbean beats at Vangarde show
The New Primitives, a Minneapolis based world pop band, will perform Saturday, Jan. 25 at Vangarde Arts, 420 Jackson St. in Sioux City.
The band explores blended styles heavily influenced by reggae, R&B, and Afro-Caribbean beats. New Primitives features two Midwestern Rock and Country Hall of Fame members, Stanley Kipper and Chico Perez, friends since early childhood.
The band has won multiple music awards including four Minnesota Music Academy Awards for “Best Performance” and “Best Reggae/World Band.”
The New Primitive sound also is composed of ska, rock, Afro-Cuban, Caribbean and Mexican music, a soulful long simmering stew of wonderfully harmonious singing and playing.
