6 cool things to do in Sioux City this weekend

It’s Halloween weekend in Sioux City. But if scares aren’t your think, then this list is for you.

  1. Jay Leno – a Girls Inc. fund-raiser features a night of laughs on Sunday, as comedian and longtime TV talk show host Jay Leno takes the stage. Tickets $68-$132 at ticketmaster.com. 7:30 p.m. show.
  2. Siouxland vs. Hunger – fighting hunger has never been so fun. Join hundreds of volunteers to pack 250,000 pounds of food in a day for the needy in northwest Iowa. The Food Bank of Siouxland event is Saturday at the Tyson Events  Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Volunteers are asked to contribute $62.50 to participate in the packing party! For more information, please contact Dawn Draube at 712-490-0968. 
  3. Enjoy a taste of Greece at the Grecian Dinner at the Holy Trinity Greek orthodox Church,6th and Jennings. Featuring authentic Green cuisine, pastries and breads. Tickets available at the door. 
  4. CD Release Party – Check out some great local music Saturday night at the Chesterfield as the Sioux City band Ghostcat releases its first CD. The band will be joined by Mind Machine, Pets with Human Names, Villian Works, and the B-Sides.
  5. Open Mic – Want to show off your musical talent? Head to the Open Mic afternoon at Pierce Street Coffee Works, 1920 Pierce St. Sunday 3-5 p.m. 
  6. Siouxland Artists Holiday Show takes the spotlight Saturday in the atrium of the Plymouth Block Building, Fourth and Court on Historic 4th St. See and purchase original art from 15 local artists, and enjoy live music and refreshments from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
